Do you also like history? Discover the evolution of the village of Montsoreau and the works of art written and created by the artists who came to visit Montsoreau. In the past, two villages stood side by side: Rest, the fishing village, and Montsoreau, the ancient town. Both were situated around its 15th century castle. Made famous by Alexandre Dumas in his novel “La dame de Montsoreau”, the castle is now a museum of contemporary art.

Take time to stroll through the streets …

Take the time to stroll through the maze of flowery alleys of the town and discover its troglodytes, its old mariners’ houses from the 15th and 19th centuries, its church “saved from the waters”, its mills, the Palais de la Sénéchaussée, the Puits Fontaine… with magnificent views over the river. If you want to discover even more, the tourist office organises guided tours of the village for individuals every Wednesday from mid-July to mid-August.

Are you a sportsman? There are many walking, horse riding and cycling routes that wind through the village, the vineyards and the quays.

Montsoreau also reveals itself through its cultural and gastronomic heritage: initiation to boule de fort at 50 metres from the hotel, tasting of local products, discovery of local arts and crafts… In other words, in Monstoreau alone, many activities are possible!
